A temporary national and international art exhibition centre, this building with a façade typical of Neoclassical architecture houses some of the most celebrated works of the most acclaimed artists, painters and photographers in the world.

Awarded in 1901 in the Annual Artistic Building Competition, Palau Martorell is the perfect combination of monumental style and stately elegance reflected in its symmetry and the distribution of its decorative features that are neither overly ornate nor Baroque.

Boasting works from artists such as Joaquín Sorolla, Alphonse Mucha, Chagall, the Italian sculptor Matteo Pugliesse and the acclaimed Catalan photographer Francesc Fàbregas, the building overlooks the Plaça de la Mercè, with great views of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mercy Basilica of Our Lady of Mercy.

Currently, until 8th September, Palau Martorell is hosting the exhibition "Geisha/Samurai - Memories of Japan", which looks back over Japanese culture through a collection of more than one hundred and fifty artworks.
